Not s good as the Poet. I have a love/hate attitude toward serial killer books. I love the stark dichotomy between the heroes and the ultra sinister bad buy. But I also hate how the authors tend to get into the bad guy's head and give us way too much of his sick thinking. They also usually have way too much sexually (read: perversion) in them. This one started with that and I thought I might not finish it. However, once the story got moving, there wasn't more of those kinds of heinous details. A good, quick read. It wasn't rocket science, but it was right on the money. As Schaeffer kept saying, the idea he was presenting was simple, but not easy. Well worth the time to read because it was so short. I really wanted to read this because I didn't want to miss any of the details of what followed Batman's death. The Battle for the Cowl was OK, but this companion series stunk. It followed what was going on in the rest of Gotham while the three-issue series Battle for the Cowl took place. Yes, there were a few high points, but in general it was a struggle to get through it. I'm glad it's over so that I can pick up the regular single issues of Batman, Detective Comics, and the other series that are starting up again now that Battle for the Cowl is over.
