She seemed to be quite the character herself. The having to eat constantly to not seem weak was interesting too.

As for where I am in the book. I have gotten into the 4th scroll....so Spoilers if not to there yet!!

I got so angry with Caesar in the 3rd one. He got too greedy and cocky for his own good. Rome seemed at peace after his last battle win but he was not happy with that and had to have more. Also by his permitting people into the Roman Senate that were known enemies was just Asking for major trouble. Caesar seemed to think himself invincible.
He also started to seem more manipulative in this scroll. I Do think he cared for Cleo but he also appeared to love to have his cake and eat it too. He would explain things like his not leaving Calpurnia in a manner to make Cleo feel guilty for wanting it in the first place. It was also, I thought not very nice of him to expect Cleo to fund his war with Parthia. It was not her war and really did not need to be his either. Glad she told him no in this one thing.

His death was tragic But again he was in a way asking for it. It was as if he was doing as much as possible to put a big giant target on himself. Maybe he wanted it in a way ( OK not the Way he got it but was tired and wanted a permanent Out)??

His Will got me too. Not naming Cleos and his son was just wrong. Like Cleo states he could have acknowleged him and stated he knew per Roman law he could not inherit but still at least could have Acknowledged him. By doing this he put Cleo and his son in a very bad spot after his death and while I have not finished reading, I do know the events coming up in the book and I often wonder,... if the will had been different... if All that follows...all the fighting and death could have been prevented.

For some reason hers leave me wanting more. Kinda I guess would be for me just not 'enough meat'. If that makes sense. Have already read it. Was a very fast read and I really liked it. More of a light historical read but seems to not stray from actual events. One thing I loved was that the main gal is Elizabeths Seamstress and she is always describing the clothing and fabric in detail.

The Heavens Before by Kacy Barnett-Gramckow. Just finished this one too. It is a 1st of a trilogy called The Genesis Trilogy. This one focuses on the Great Flood. Told from the view of the girl that becomes Shems wife / Noahs daughter in law. Interesting views on how life was at that time.

He Who Lifts The Skies also by Barnett-Gramckow. This is the 2nd in the series and says is about the Tower of Babel time period.
Signora da Vinci by Robin Maxwell
The Heretic Queen by Michelle Moran
Dreamers and Brothers both by Angela Hunt They are the first 2 in a series that starts around the time of Joseph after he ends up in Egypt.
Sisters of Henry VIII by Maria Perry
Honor in the Dust by Gilbert Morris around the time of Henry VIII but focuses on the religious reform with Tyndale.
