This book kind of took my by surprise. Mosley's storytelling style lulls the reader into state of ease, then, like the title character, slyly gets under your skin and makes you feel exposed. I think I'd rather give this 3.5 stars...I vacillate between really liking it, and getting hung up on some parts. His ideas are neat, the world he created is cool, and there are panserbjorn. I really do like Lyra, though some may feel that her character is inconsistent. The themes are interesting, though sometimes the "message" is a little blunt. His writing is good, though a little off-putting with certain phrasing. I read this in high school, and it kind of blew my mind. I had never read anything like this up to that point.
