After reading several of their reviews I really feel that the people who have given this book one star have somewhat missed the point of the book entirely.
I don't think that Quinn was trying to propose a end-all solution to our problems. I feel that he was trying to instill in the reader the urge to find their own solution. He was attempting to present our lives to us in a way we had not imagined it before, to break us out of the mold of what we've been somewhat ignoring our whole lives. This book didn't make me think, "Oh, damn, he is right, let's screw it all and go back to primitive ways!" It did, however, give me a great urge to deeper explore what the hell I am doing here in the first place, and question those things that I had previously ignored.
The reviews from people giving this book one star, hilariously enough, seem to come off with the same "pompous" and "self-righteous" tone that they describe his book as having. However, in the end, they can't disagree that the book has made them think about, and at times develop opinions about, the issues he presents in the novel, which brings us back to the whole point of the book in the first place.
