I loved this book. I get tired of meaningless quests and epic tales of kingdoms and fortunes. This book seemed to me more like a fable. There was a message in it. It'll stay with me for a while.
And it has given me a new tag line...

If you have a sewing machine (or even sewing by hand) it's a real easy project to make a book cover out of fabric. Just one rectangle a little larger than the book when spread open, two rectangles for the flaps, sew the seams, turn it inside and and you're done. Plus, since some people do this as a way to be creative and personalize their books, no one will think you are trying to hide some embarrassing covers! ;-) ]]>

(Update: Umm, this book is erotica. I didn't know that when I picked it up. I like them steamy but I try to draw the line at erotica. Ooops. LOL. I'm totally shocked Amber didn't get her "uh oh!" from these two sentences as it seems every other sentence in the entire book has it! LOL) ]]>
I like the continuing universe and recurring characters in the background. I've noticed though, that when these series get too long, there always seems to be one character that gets the short end of the author's attention. In other words, there seems to inevitably be one book where the author seems to have had an off book or she was tired or what have you such that it's really a stinky book. I'm reading Christine Feehan's Ghostwalker series. I'm on Deadly Game. I like the Ken Norton character but my gosh, it feels like Ms. Feehan is lost and scrambling around for something to say. She's repeated practically the same scene now 3 chapters in a row! She's not the only one. Cherry Adair did the same thing with her T-Flac series. Poor Derek Wright. I loved the other stories but his story annoyed me. Ah well... It's hard to get it right every time. ]]>

FWIW, whatever you name your characters (unless you totally make up a new name) you will start seeing it everywhere. It's like when you buy a new car in this really cool shade of royal blue, all of a sudden you see it everywhere...
I write stuff too that will never see the light of day (but it's great fun!) I named a character Harmony a couple years ago and now I see it everywhere. I've given up on trying to be original with names. Marcus is a cool name. Doesn't matter how many there are, yours will be unique.
I read an interesting article where Stephanie Meyer was discussing her choice of the name Edward (Cullen). That's not a name you think of much any more for romance but in its time, it was a very romantic name, she said. And you know what? My 14yo daughter now loves her Uncle Ed's name! Go figure. The moral is the story makes the name, not the other way around.
