Because I started this book right after finishing Gone with the Wind, and because I was reading The Story of Edgar Sawtelle at the same time, my expectations may have been a bit higher than usual. Or maybe this book really did stink. Either way, it was bad (my official rating is 2.5 stars). First of all, I found tons of grammar errors (was Ms. Picoult's editor on crack)? Second, the ages didn't line up correctly (Jane once says that she had Rebecca when she was 21, but Rebecca is 15 and Jane is 35...). And the sub-plot with Jane and Joley was just cringe-worthy. I understand that this was Ms. Picoult's first novel, and it's obvious that she has improved quite a bit. Stay away from this book. Read My Sister's Keeper instead. ]]>
