The first, no doubt, of many books for my PhD research. Harp's research is thorough, and his analysis of theological trends at the turn of the century is helpful, but his dislike of, and frustration with, Brooks seems to cloud his judgment a bit.

Smith is one of my favorite writers, and this book is a wonderful distillation, and application, of Charles Taylor's insights in his tome "A Secular Age".
