There are some things about this series that I really like, but this book had too many things that were not likeable. It seems like the author wants torture her characters both physically and mentally. I understand that the 18th century was a pretty awful place full of violence and disease, but the author seems to seek out various ways to kill people 18th century style.
I am also really not a fan of mistaken identity except in shakespeare plays where they end happily. Definitely not in the case of a man who has pretty much done nothing wrong and gets beaten almost to death and then sold to indians. When problems can be solved with a 2 minute conversation and they aren't. Just gah.
