I'd recommend Butcher's Storm Front to almost anyone, due to its sheer readability. It's very well-paced, and has a hysterical narrator one doesn't soon forget. Too bad the television show wasn't nearly as satisfying as the novels!
I'm not one to summarize; if you're interested in what the book's about, read the synopsis provided by Goodreads. But I will tell you that the novel's premise is intriguing (after all, the series is about a wizard that works on retainer for the Chicago P.D. How cool is that?), and that I laughed out loud on several occasions (especially during poor Harry's "date", er, if one can even call it a date). Harry, Butcher's main character and wizard extraordinaire, leaps off the page as he narrates the novel. Butcher's ancillary characters--from the crazy living skull Bob, to the tough-as-nails police investigator Karrin Murphy--are deliciously fun, and really bolster the madness throughout the novel. If you're into vampires, fae creatures (don't think Tink, think a less-intelligent version of Holly Short), wizardry, and a whole lot of magical mayhem, read Storm Front. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
