This book has a lot of dialogue in it. Many students have a hard time figuring out how to incorporate dialogue into their story. I think this would be a great book to read with the students when teaching them about dialogue. I love that is uses many different words for the word "said." This is was always difficult for me when writing something with dialogue. This book is awesome because it shows kids that English is not the only form of literacy. They can read the English version and then the Spanish version and then compare the two. This book allows children to see how poetry can tell a story. This book has a phrases that rhyme and teach kids how to incorporate that into their writing. It also shows how to write a mystery. This book is great for kids because it teaches them to write about their own experiences. Not every story or book has a happy ending and this teaches that whatever they want to write about is ok. Alexander wanted to get the point across that he had a bad day so this just proves to kids they can write about whatever as long as they are writing. This is great book for younger students. It helps them develop their understanding and awareness of the alphabet. It highlights the letter that is in the word so the students can see how the letter they are learning fits works with other letters to make a word which then creates meaning. ]]>
