I have to read this book to my daughter almost every night. What a clever story that I am so glad is still around! Grover is a likable, lovable furry monster who learns that there are worse things to be afraid of than what else? Monsters! My original review was lost because of internet problems. Let's see if I can try this again.

First of all, it takes a lot for me to give a book a five out of five. I not only have to love the characters and story, but I have to be consumed by it. That is exactly what happened with Lament. I was taken into a dangerous world of deception, true love, relationship triangles, magic and faeries. And I didn't want the story to end. Nor could I get through it fast enough.

Second of all, I haven't read a book about faeries that I have loved as much as this one. My view of the fey has changed in the last year from the Disney persona to one of souless, spitefull, selfish, beautiful imortal creatures! And I so love them!

Third of all, the writing seems effortless and full of humor, even in the darkest parts of the book. This is a story that wasn't afraid to make fun of itself and still allow you to take it seriously all the way.

Luke, the hero of this story is damaged goods. From the begining and that makes him all the more desirable to me. Add on top of that his sudden desire to become more than who he is and his love for our heroine, Dee had me totally in love with him! Dee, a flawed and relatable character is probably my favorite heroine I have ever read about. She was likeable but not annoyingly so. And didn't make stupid, unlogical decisions other heroines have made (i.e. Bella Swan of Twilight or Zoey of House Of Night).

I am forever a Maggie Stiefvater fan. This book has me hooked and not able to wait to read more of what she has! I love her words best to describe the story: "Homicidal Faeries!" And thanks to you Maggie, I have realized "I'm EMO on the inside" :D. Although I pretty much have full access, facebook, twitter, youtube, espn, myspace and a few other sites are firewalled. Employees were spending too much time online instead of working.
