Considering that this book was first published in 1926 and it still enthralled me proves that this is a classic piece of literature. I have been seeing Winnie-The-Pooh images everywhere especially when my daughter was still a child so the characters created in this book will stay with us for many, many more decades to come.

Did you know that the name Winnie comes from a real tiger in Winnipeg which was used as Canadian mascot in World War I? That's a trivia for my sister currently residing in that place with her husband.

The book is a joy to read. Although it was written for children, it was an easy break from the usual adult novels that I have been reading. The Bear With Not Much Brain is similar to the character of Forest Gump - simpleton with a big heart. Winnie-The-Pooh eats a lot of honey and could not remember so many things but when it comes to helping those in need like Piglet during the flood or the drowning Roo, he was always there. A true friend indeed.

That flood in one of the chapters reminded me on Ondoy that struck Manila a couple of months back. In the story, Christopher Robin (the boy character who was based on the actual son of the author), said that the increasing level of the water due to continuous rain was exciting. Maybe in 1920's and in a fairy tale like this book. But not in real life.

Aside from that minor comment, overall, I liked this book very much.

  		Hi,
Where did you buy this book and what made you decide to read it rather than reading about say WWII in the Philippines? I am just curious because I like your review.
Regards,
Doni
