the story of Mary Boleyn. interesting enough to make me want to read more about the Boleyn family as well as King Henry and his other wives. this story took a real person and told a fictionalized story of her life based on fact and presumption. i loved reading the book and hated when i had to put it down to do more important things like sleep. there were parts that were a slight bit racy but nothing compared to what one might see on daytime television these days. ...less

i don't ordinarily laugh out loud when reading (because i don't want to appear crazy) but this book made me laugh out loud and i never once felt crazy because i knew that i didn't have it quite as bad as mr. sedaris. his ability to look back at situations with humor is incredible. what's even more incredible is that he managed to get himself into such situations. i picked this book up from a thrift store for $2.99 and it was well worth it because i have never had my jaw hurt after reading a book. ...less

I wanted to give this book five stars but honestly i found myself skipping parts that felt too long to me and not as important to the whole of the story, but i did like this book. I read somewhere that Capote was one of the first to write a book in this manner, recreating the moment as though he was there.
Its really sad that this book is non-fiction and that a family and community endured such a crime losing all sense of safety and security.
When I was talking to an aunt about this book she told me that she had read it not long after the book first came out and it was in the news at the time that Capote was able to get so much information from one of the men because he got involved with him. interesting, but true?
the book was good. ...less

AUTISM. its not much understood but its interesting to read about the trials Jenny goes through starting one morning when she finds her son having a seizure. i saw Jenny on Ellen recently and she spoke about the added difficulty of having to do a book tour for another book, Baby Laughs, at the same time that she was finding out that her son had autism. I admit i once found Jenny annoying and too loud, for me, but after following her work in Autism and reading this book I have developed a great respect for her. The book is an easy read and provides a lot of insight into treatments and ideas on autism. ...less

i want to read in cold blood but my local library didn't have it so i picked up a book on short stories by Capote instead and i have enjoyed the few i have read so far. it is tough to get through a book of short stories quickly though, for me at least, because i like to take some time between each story before i begin the next. it allows me time to understand one story and ensures that i don't get it confused with the next, so i may be reading this book for awhile longer. ...less
