I really enjoyed this book, and the poem referenced is something everyone should keep for that friend or family member who is expecting a child with special needs. The author does not sugar coat anything. She reveals her true, honest and sometimes shocking revelations about having a baby with special needs.
A must read for any parent!

WOW - I loved this book!!!! But it was soooooooo sad. The story of a retarded man who has an operation to become smart and discovers intelligence isn't what it is cracked up to be. I highly recommend this book. A little difficult in the beginning as it his journal entries and being as he is retarded, spelling, grammar, punctuation are very erratic. But hang in there. The story is wonderful.

I loved this book. Another one I just couldn't put down. It takes place in the 1930's in India. It is the story of a 9 yr. old girl in India who is bethrothed to a man in his 50's. He dies and according to custom, she is sent to live in a house for widows for the duration of her life deprived of everything. It is sooooo sad. But a great read.
