David Ogilvy is a legend for a reason...goshh he's so self-assured for one...but he really knows ads and selling and know that in many other things he has no idea, so that ability to admit what you dont know is kind of good. I enjoyed the content and the stories of his life, but I dont know why...it is kind of hard to get through. Could it be language was kind of old fashioned for me? He writes with authoritative air too, a lot of it, and it's one voice I am not particularly fond of. But who am I kidding I mean, he is one of the great guru of ads, so maybe he should be authoritative!

It's enjoyable! Reads almost like a novel, except it's a How-to mixed with memoir. I keep moving on from this chapter to that chapter, not really following from page 1 to the end. Just grabbed the chapters Im really interested in. I learnt a lot of the inside workings of advertising industry: it's quite interesting reading about stereotypes on difficult types of people in the advertisement industry, although presumably these people exist in any other industry too (and presumably it's not interesting dealing with these people in real life). Some of the tips/story on writing and coming up with ideas were funny. I don't know how much of it was universal or just what haoppens in the kind of big, urban firms that the author worked on. Nonetheless, he is a talented writer and the book has been really quite a good read!

It gets boring and draining in the middle! But I still like it because Yu Dan writes clearly and the stories included was pretty profound. Quite inspiring, I'd say. You don't digest it in a day. Better let it be absorbed by your mind and then continue again. It's too much in one sitting.
