An interesting read.

When, after about 10% of the book I started thinking about Machiavelli's advices not as advices to young prince but as advices for a manager - many things started falling into their places.

I do not know. Maybe this book found me in a bad mood or I am by nature unreceptive to its messages and scenes.
Maybe it is too subtle for me or there is a dimension that I am not able to see.
However, I was not able to enjoy the eroticism and symbolis

This is the first Nesbo's book I read. I am not sure if I will read more as this one did not rock my world.

The plot is very thin, and not challenging at all. Also, the hero is soooo clever, and sooo capable and gets things soooo easy.

Harper Lee
“Until I feared I would lose it, I never loved to read. One does not love breathing.”
Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird

“Atticus told me to delete the adjectives and I'd have the facts.”
Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird

Terry Pratchett
“If cats looked like frogs we'd realize what nasty, cruel little bastards they are. Style. That's what people remember.”
Terry Pratchett, Lords and Ladies

Harper Lee
“They're certainly entitled to think that, and they're entitled to full respect for their opinions... but before I can live with other folks I've got to live with myself. The one thing that doesn't abide by majority rule is a person's conscience.”
Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird

John Steinbeck
“When a child first catches adults out -- when it first walks into his grave little head that adults do not always have divine intelligence, that their judgments are not always wise, their thinking true, their sentences just -- his world falls into panic desolation. The gods are fallen and all safety gone. And there is one sure thing about the fall of gods: they do not fall a little; they crash and shatter or sink deeply into green muck. It is a tedious job to build them up again; they never quite shine. And the child's world is never quite whole again. It is an aching kind of growing.”
John Steinbeck, East of Eden
