Like the Holy Roman Empire, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance is not really about Zen, Art, or Motorcycle Maintenance (the HRE was neither Holy, Roman, nor an empire). That doesn't stop it from being a great work though.

Required reading for anyone who builds things that people use (or who uses things designed by other people). I'd like to think that Steve Jobs read this after it was first published in 1988 and incorporated its messages into the iPhone.
