A well-written book on the forgotten theatre of World War II: The China-Burma-India (CBI) theatre, where forgotten soldiers and generals of the Allied Forces defend China using India as a springboard to secure access to Japan; and Burma seemed to get stuck in the middle..

The book is incomparable to "Band of Brothers" TV series. The war scenes were horrifying, the hurdles and challenges went beyond "mission impossible". Although the book focused on the epic fightings of "Merrill's Marauders", "Wingate's Chindits" and "Stillwell's X-Force", it also gave fair accounts for the Japanese forces as well i.e. Tanaka's 18 Division and Sato's 31st Division. In the end, hat's off to both sides.

Reading some parts of the book inside Burma really put you into the perspective of: another war is not needed. On the other hand, it kinda sheds some lights on the fragile position that Burma had in modern warfare and in 20th century, which to some extend contributed to its present conditions.

A great reading for enthusiasts in intelligence study and international affairs. The book was well written and easy to understand. Although the politics of it lost me sometimes.

It was also quite appalling to learn from an insider on supposedly the present state of the States. We all know some sort of oil politics is going on, however this book may be an eye opening on how greasy the oil is.

A good reads indeed..

Bah, ngeri.. Tidak terduga. Sarap.

Hasilnya? Sama aja. I'm a big chicken, but yeah.. it's just SICK..

I understand why Hollywood opted for "Slumdog Millionaire" than "The White Tiger". Slumdog was too cliche, too Hollywoody, too mainstream. "The White Tiger" is the real deal.

Funny, honest, ironic and raw. The real life of perhaps 80% of Asian in Asia. We dream with an empty stomach and was forced to feel full and comfortable with it. We work like a dog, only to make ends meet. Every single day is a fight. We are like ants who prepares for the winter. By ourselves.

"The White Tiger" is not only about India, its culture, politics and social issues. It's about the general part of Asia. It's also about humanity.

It's quite a strong book.
