I'm no stranger to reading books about why one should go vegetarian/vegan and how to do it, so part of me worried I would find this book boring or old hat. But I didn't. I actually enjoyed reading it and even learned a couple of new things. I like Alicia Silverstone and enjoyed learning more about her and her beliefs. And it was a crazy to have so much in common with her.

Anyway, I think one thing this book does very well is explain why moving towards a plant-based diet is a good thing for everyone and the environment, and in a positive vibe, best girlfriend kind of way. I can't say how the recipes are because I haven't tried any and I am not sure I will get the opportunity. I borrowed the book from the library and unless I own a book, I generally don't get a chance to try out recipes. But I'm not worried about that, I have lots of great vegan cookbooks. And I think I will spend most of my near future in Alicia's 'vegan' category as I am not ready for being a regular 'supehero'. Greens for breakfast is just not my idea of breakfast...unless someone is making me a tofu scramble with spinach. But maybe it's just a matter of baby steps. I mean, at one point I never thought I could be vegan only to discover how much I love it and how easy it can be.

I recommend reading this book to anyone who wants to know more about the reasons behind veganism in a gentle, non-graphic, but still honest way.
