TITLE: The House Of Malgriata (Welcome To Sheol)
AUTHOR: Emmanuel Richard Tchami
PUBLISHER: Black Leaf Publishing http://www.blackleafpublishing.com
COPYRIGHT: 2009
FORMAT: Paperback
GENRE: Fiction
PAGES: 133
PRICE: $11.95 (US), £7.95 (UK)
ISBN-10: 0955990342
ISBN-13: 9780955990342

Unwelcome sounds were streaming in through her windows. She could hear a lady’s voice calling, saying something obscure. Then suddenly, the griffin on the wall transformed into a mischievous hag in white linen. She was wrapped head-to-toe with only her face exposed. Her face was pale and deformed by wrinkles of many years. Her eyes were large and very white, with no sign of life in them. And she was approaching Jessie’s bed. Jessie was thrown into a state of fear or desperation, yet she was defenseless. She tried to shout, but realized that she had no voice. She tried to kick or move her body, but all her efforts went in vain. She just kept watching the old vampire, or whatever it was, as it spread its arms and came closer and closer toward her bed. Then, as the hag opened her mouth Jessie could see that her incisors were long and pointed. And she was repeating one word…Malgriata, Malgriata, Malgriata…as she bent forward to stifle her. ~Excerpt from Malgriata (Welcome To Scheol) pages 19-20.

All he wanted to do was to take his family on a vacation. He wanted to get them out of the city for a while. Where should he take his family?

They board a small boat to visit Cawthorn. On the way there, however, their craft is sunk and the little family is shipwrecked on the eerie island of Broghoc.

He looks around the desolate island for some sign of life but all Crim sees are plants scattered around. He also spots a dilapidated house. He decides that they need someplace to stay until they’re rescued and that creepy looking house is better than nothing. They get to the abandoned house and are just starting to get settled when a knocking sound is heard at the front door. It is a strange man with wolf like eyes…

When Crim’s young niece decides to retire for the night, a strange woman in white appears to her but she isn’t able to resist. The young girl isn’t seen anymore. Where did she go?

In this tale, the author takes us on a terrifying journey of one family’s struggles with the supernatural. The Normanti family finds terror at every turn of the page!

TITLE: The Trojan Project
AUTHOR: Eileen Thornton
PUBLISHER: Austin and Macauley http://www.austinmacauley.com (May 27, 2008)
COPYRIGHT: Eileen Thornton
FORMAT: Paperback
GENRE: Fiction
PAGES: 292
PRICE: $12.99 (US), £8.99 (UK)
ISBN-10: 1905609094
ISBN-13: 9781905609093

Imagine…you’re waiting for your husband to come home from tending the sheep. Out of nowhere appears a green flash in the night sky. It’s followed by a strange green mist. You hear your friends and neighbors in the valley below screaming with fear. Then there is total silence. You feel so helpless since you don’t know what’s happening.

Imagine…waking up with death all around you. What were green fields and lawns are now burned but there wasn’t a fire. What would you do? You gather your children and the family dog to leave. You have to let someone know what’s happened. Right? Why was your house and family spared from this tragedy? Where is your husband?

What would you do? Would you travel to the police station to let the authorities know what happened? Yes. That’s a good idea. Along the way you find a man lying, almost dead, in the middle of the road. His flesh is melting away but he manages to speak in a whisper, “he’s dead.”

You finally arrive in the town of Wooler and hurry to the police station there to tell them your unbelievable tale. After you finish the tale the unexplainable happens. The military raids the police station! Why would this happen? As soon as they are raided, you know what you have to do. You have to get to your parents house in London. Your father has a high position. He’ll know what to do. At the same time, a young constable finally believes your story. He drives you and your little family there.

The family, dog and young constable quickly get under way only to find the military hunting them down. They take every back road and farm lane that they can think of to get to their destination.

This fast-paced book is packed with twists and military roadblocks at every intersection of every road. This book also has deception, lies, revenge and a government cover-up. This taught thriller will make every reader think the same question. What’s really going on?

To find out more about the author or to order The Trojan Project, please visit her website at: http://www.eileenthornton.co.uk.
Hi everybody,
Here's how I do it. I try to set aside chunks of time to write, review books (read & write them up) & work on my critique group. It depends on what comes up that day whether it all gets done the way I want it. Right now, a crisis has hit the critique group so that comes first. My writing & reviewing have temporarily taken a back seat. Like Rita says, if you want to write bad enough, you make time.

Glenda wrote: "On the other hand, Deb, I found when I first started to review professionally that I had to look in the mirror at myself...I was placing my own preference for fast-paced adventure and suspense over..."

Hi Glenda,
I totally agree with you on that! Even if the story isn't my cup of tea, I almost have to force myself sometimes to read the complete book because there's always a decent story somewhere in there. I've been getting some pretty good books coming my way lately. There was no way I could do an good review of the book I mentioned previously. It was pages & pages of description & no plot at all. I advertize honest reviews & don't really like to give bad ones but thank heaven that's the only bad one I've had to do so far. Oh, I'm not a professional reviewer. I really wish I could be. I'm just an independent reviewer. Deb :-)

  	Hi,
I've found a couple very good books from the reviews here. When I'm in a bookstore, I usually head for the children's section & look at the YA fantasy books like Harry Potter. I read the blurbs on the back & the 1st page or 2 before I buy it. I found Magyc through Goodreads so I didn't have to check that one out to thoroughly. This is how I do it though.
Deb :-)
