This book is mildly amusing and the "facts" were interesting. I actually bought it for my daughter who is only 5 feet tall (or short). On page 115, Mr. Kanin writes about Charles Manson; he states that "legend has it that his prostitute mother sold him for a pitcher of beer." He continues to use the "pitcher of beer" to excess assuming if it was funny to begin with, why drop it now?

From the book: "On August 6, 1969, he ordered some of his cult followers to kill whoever was in the former house of a record producer who had rebuffed him (Manson had offered him a pitcher of beer, unsuccessfully). Casualties included movie director Roman Polanski's wife, actress Sharon Tate, who was eight months pregnant (with a pitcher of beer)."
