Fun reading ... super spy saves the world from the diabolical [Big-Brother-esque:] plan of a group of über-rich businessmen who control the world's information gathering technology ... almost ... but why does there always have to be a love story?

I'm not entirely objective here. A high school buddy wrote this book (retired army ... West Point instructor). I enjoyed reading it ... considered trying to write a screenplay based on it ... couldn't figure out how to make it low budget.

This part of the book you've chosen was particularly poignant for me. About a year ago I had a couple of minor strokes (TIAs). I thought I was just having a bad migraine headache. I took my migraine medicine and started to fix breakfast when I realized my hand was droopy and weak, and getting weaker. I decided to go to the doctor. When I showered, my hand kept drooping and getting in the way ... like I was trying to wash my hair with the back of my hand. It was a most bizarre set of emotions ... at once goofy and unsettling. I would have giggled if I hadn't been scared. I had those feelings all over again as he described it.

Historical novels frustrate me a little because I always wonder what's true and what's invented. A character in this book reflects on THE truth versus A truth. For sure, there were events depicted in the story which mirrored personal experiences in my life. So even if they were fictional accounts, they were truths for me. At any rate, I read the 525 pages in less than three days. It was engaging.
