Jeremy is on page 252 of 376 of Guards! Guards!: I'd almost forgotten Vimes started off his character arc as a drunken lout as opposed to the hyper-competent "Dirty Harry" lawman he becomes. It's like seeing a good sword half eaten by rust and neglect.
