This book reminded me why I love historical fiction. It was a great transport to another country, time, and characters I did not know about previously. It made me curious to learn more about the real Murano glassblowers trade in the 16th and 17th centuries. Just finished reading this last night. The author is talented but tends to lose herself in run-on sentences of ridiculous descriptions. The first 5 pages nearly scared me away as it was actually cumbersome to read. But the premise kept me going and I'm glad I finished it. The last couple chapters introduced additional conflicts and characters that were neither resolved nor necessary.
