The rain falls.
It creates a silver veil
Within a dense green wood.
Crystalline droplets drip from the pines,
And clear puddles form,
Shattered reflections of nowhere.

A cloaked traveler invades the silence,
Stumbling down the muddied forest paths,
The rain streaming down his shrouds of black
And washing down his pale, empty face,
Tormented with time
And darkened by tragedy.
A black smear appears on the perfect moonlit screen,
And splashes through the mirrored water.
He does not belong there,
In the cool, flawless beauty.

At the quiet groan of a tree,
Black eyes drift upward,
At the wood itself warding him off
With it's gnarled hands and spiny fingers,
Pushing and pulling,
And urging him to leave,
To travel on,
Farther and farther away.
The world rushes up to greet him
As a misplaced root drags him down.
He sprawls on the grassy floor,
Strong chilled limbs remaining still,
Death offering it's cold embrace,
Tempting the traveler towards paradise.
But he shoves away,
Pulling upwards on his worn feet once more.
Dark eyes reflect the misty path
As the youth walks forward,
Searching for a belonging.
A place that is home.
The water drips through his hood to his thin face,
Concealing the stining tears that stream down,
Camoflaging perfectly with the downpour.
Yet, despite his memories he moves on.
And slowly,
The rain adapts to him,
Growing used to his form and being,
That alone encouraging him onwards,
Into the storm.
