Wow. I guess I was in a no-reading phase. But I'm back on track. :-)

16. Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris

This was a good chick lit book, with a vampire twist. I read a lot of it while I was sitting by the pool in Mexico. It was a good, light read that I really enjoyed. Sookie definitely got my attention, and I went out and bought the next book when I got home. So I am looking forward to reading more of the series.

17. A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest Gaines

This book was very well written, and it had a very good message. I liked how Gaines made it easy for you to connect with just about all of the characters at some point. Especially with Grant and how he is torn up over what he can do for Jefferson. The message is really good, and I think its all about how you can leave a lasting impact no matter what, sort of like what Jefferson did in the town. They all knew he was innocent, but in the end he still made everyone proud.

18. Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

This book proves that it is important to pay attention to those around you. Its about a girl named Hannah, and a boy named Clay who had a crush on her. One day she commits suicide, and this devastates Clay. But a couple days after, he recieves a box of tapes, recorded by Hannah. There are 13, and they are all about a person who caused Hannah to commit suicide. So Clay wonders why he is on the tapes. (To find out, read the book). But I read the book and thought the overall message was good, but it was delivered poorly. It was written well, but not spectacular.

19. After the First Death by Robert Cormier

For any of you who have read Cormier before, you'll know what I mean when I say this book is weird. Its about a kid named Ben and how his father's life impacts his own. To really get the full affect of the book, you need to read it twice. And then read it again. I totally would not have gotten the full story of the book unless my teacher had explained it to our class. But because it was so intrestingly written, it made a lasting impact on me.

20. Deadline by Chris Crutcher

I really liked this book. I thought the message that was given was great. The book was about Ben Wolf, who was diagnosed with an agressive disease and given around a year to live. So he decides not to tell anyone because he wants to be normal. But he realizes it isn't good to keep secrets when he learns that everyone he is close to has their own secrets too. The book was all about how important it is to tell the truth, no matter how bad it may seem if you don't. I also liked the way this book was written. It used slang and such to appeal to a different audience.

Hi everyone! I am new to this group, but most of you might know me from TNBBC. I really want to keep going with the challenges, so I decided to join this group. I am going to do my best to do a moderate amount of reading, but with a new school year, that might be a bit difficult.

When I'm not reading, I like to play with my dogs, hang out with my friends, be on the computer, and listen to music. I also like art, but I'm not that good at it, other than photography. I really like photography. :-)
