This was a great addition to The Hunger Games, which was fantastic in scope. Fast paced and intriguing. Good stuff. Star Wars. Storm Trooper Zombies. Do I need to explain more? Fun short read, but over far too quickly. I have to say, I was blown away by this read. A few friends had told me that I should look into it, and I was stunned by this book. The subject matter was well handled, and I enjoyed the fact that the narrator was death itself, telling the story of Germany during WWII from a perspective normally not seen nor written about, the poor Germans caught up in political upheaval. The characters were fantastically well rounded, and the settings were stressed enough to let the audience know how it looked but left much up to the imagination. Oh-ho! The good stuff in YA literature. Garth Nix is a fascinating author, and he really had a good take on death and Necromancer[ing:] in this trilogy. I love this series and reread it occasionally, just because it has such a unique vision. And don't be fooled: though the subject matter is dark, this is a wickedly fun read, and absolutely worth devoting some time to reading. ]]>
