Another book in Koontz "Golden Angels" series (my take, not official!) These books touch my heart and at times make me bawl like a baby...not so much from the writing (but that does play a part) but because I am a rescuer of animals and I saw a lot of myself in the character of Amy. Great story of intrigue but so much like "One Door Away from Heaven" I think Koontz should sue himself for plagiarism Sometimes this took me out of the story. Another criticism is that the villian "Billy Pilgrim" (yeah, I know) belongs in another book. This was clearly a tribute to Kurt Vonnegut and all the HiHo and "So it goes" kinda took me out of the moment. I am a huge Vonnegut fan and I didn't really think this tribute to him went with the flow of this particular narrative. THAT SAID, my take on it is that Vonnegut was a Humanist and this book is all about man being kind (or cruel) to man and all creatures and how we have choices to make(again, my take) and I can easily see how Vonnegut's view of things influence Koontz. All in all, a really solid read. Koontz is a beautiful writer who really doesn't get enough credit because of certain genres he is placed in. A very solid story with great characters. (spoiler ahead) I LOVE the nun phone call. Very nice touch. ...less

"An original take on the werewolf "tail". VERY slow in the beginning but all in all a well-written book.
