Oh how I love Agatha Christie and Hercule Poirot. The detective genre is almost always the red-headed stepchild of the literary world, but Christie writing the tales of a certain Belgian "dandy" are brilliant.
I'd read this years ago and came across a beat up copy in a bookstore here in town and just devoured it.
The premise is unique and there is the illusion that Christi is allowing you to solve the case as you read it. If you've got a few hours/days to idylly read, pick this one up.

I felt mighty cheated by this book. This was every bit as gutwrenching -- and I don't mean that in any positive manner -- as the Lifetime movie that it inspired.
I found myself getting angry inexplicably while reading it and was so glad that I'd finished that I immediately sold it at a Half-Price Bookstore.
The plot was contrived and unnecesarily melodramatic. I found not one sympathetic character to "root for"; the author did have a good ear for dialogue; especially for the periods in which this was set. That's my positive for it.
