Recreates the atmosphere and characters of the first video game well, but fails to personify the main character the same way as that game. There were many moments in the novel where I just had to shake my head in disgust for the failing of Snakes personality present in the book which was not present in the video game. Still a good read if you can't handle playing the old PS1 game on an HDTV. ]]>
Fails to capture the imagination despite an interesting premise. I was hoping this new arc in the Star Wars universe would take us away from the politics and pointless storylines but I was disappointed. There is very little character development here and everything feels rushed. It's just setup with no execution.
As is, I have no intentions of reading the next story in the series unless the reviews are incredible.
Pros:
-The new series following The Legacy of the Force arc
-Technically, the continuity isn't broken with the other Star Wars novels
-The premise of having Luke Skywalker exiled from Galactic affairs and the Jedi is good
Cons:
-Boring story without much action
-Weak character development
-Luke's exile doesn't feel like an exile, mired in too much politics ]]>
