This is a book about friendship and loneliness during the Great Depression. It is also a story about dreams. Two friends, George, the smart guy and Lennie, the one with mental issues, work together so they can save enough to have a place of their own someday. Lennie is almost like a grown-up child and George, his guardian. They have taken up work in a California farm, where they meet a few people who already work there. The story tells how the two friends deal with these people, as they go about their daily lives. The story surprises you with its turns and the unexpected ending. I read the books in one go and enjoyed every bit of it. ]]>
