Beautiful, clear explanations of so many physical concepts. Metaphors galore to explain otherwise complicated topics. Up-to-the-minute commentary on the many competing theories in quantum and cosmology. ]]>
Lowenthal is the master of metaphor - clever and original. The metaphors are what I love most about Lowenthal's books. This book (as well as his others) is obviously well-researched - a real strong point, and something that makes the stories all the more interesting and multi-dimensional. Informative about life in a different era. I'm biased as I've known the author since elementary school, but I still think it is a beautiful book. ]]>
An original story, and with a good twist towards the end. Subtle, understated writing style, with deep insights. Interesting weaving of certain historical artworks into the story. Very good character descriptions. Each is a jumping off point for rich, creative yarns.
Be sure to look up "schadenfreudenberger" - a funny term coined by those jealous of the author's having such big literary success so early in her career. ]]>

Best last line ever. This book is a fun read. The author has a style that flows. No matter how tired I was I wanted to keep turning the pages. I especially liked the description of the city as a living, breathing thing - something that chews up and spits out the less-capable characters. Though the story holds together well, my only complaint is that the identity of the hacker didn't seem realistic. But I still give the book 4.9 stars, rounded up to 5. ]]>
Beautiful, deep, heartfelt story. Captures the feelings and emotions of the characters very well. It is an inspiring story of how when life throws limes at you, pick yourself up and make limeade. The book is a page-turner right up to the very end. Shaw has a great ability to weave together different storyline threads in a very compelling, readable way. ]]>
