This by far was the best of the Shara Civil War trilogy. I read this before my first trip to Gettysburg, and before watching the movie. Michael Shara admitted to taking literary license when writing it so it's not a completly factual representation of facts (such as Joshua Chamberlain was still on Little Round Top recovering with his men, not on the battlefield witnessing firsthand Pickett's Charge). This is a novel afterall and it's brilliant. I read it before each trip to Gettysburg. ]]>

Yes, IT was definitely a product of King's glory days. I think the last book of his I really really felt was part of this was Needful Things. His "change" in writing (The girl who Loved Tom Gordon, Thinner, etc) didn't do a thing for me and I still haven't seen the need to go back. ]]>

The absoulute scariest of the 3 I've read so far. Book one is my sentimental favorite, but I think this was the best written. I loved the Indiana battle between Oddie and Romanovich. And the characters were really well defined. I'm ready for the next one! ]]>
