As a huge Dessen fan I find it strange that I've never read Dreamland before or even knew it existed. I realised that although I've read many of her books over the years I've never actually looked up the other titles she writes. Stange.
Anyway, being a Dessen fan I know how the flow goes with her books. Something happens to girl, girl changes scene and learns a life lesson all for the best.
I'd been told that Dreamland didn't do that and I was intrigued. Initially, I was dissapointed because it seemed as though Rogerson was just like any other male lead for Dessen, a little troubled but overall a good guy. I had hoped for more...
... and then I got it! There was more to the story and it started getting exciting!
I finished the book in just over a day. I stayed up late because I just did not want to put it down.
My only issue is the lack of background for Rogerson. What were the secrets he was hiding? What made him do the things he did?
I'd love to see a companion book from his perspective. ]]>

I felt the same actually. I wished there had been something to show Rogerson's side of the story. Why was he the way he is, what was happening to him at home that made him that way. I found him quite interesting but we never really got to see a lot about him other than that he beat his girlfriend and dealed drugs. ]]>

You're completely right! I starting reading Dreamland yesterday and finished it today. I've been a Dessen fan for quite a while but, for some reason, never took the time to see all of her titles. I had read that Dreamland was more gritty and real than her other titles (which they are... you might be disappointed in other Dessen because of how good Dreamland is) so gave it a try.
I finished it feeling a bit... lost. Like you said, a haze! I can't even bring myself to start something new right now. All I can think about is the book. it's amazing! ]]>
