Old Testament Ethics for the People of God by Christopher J.H. Wright
"Massive book on a very important topic. I respect Wright because he steers away from trying to prescribe micromanaged ethics for today's believers. Instead he looks at the principles animating the Old Testament ethic and spends a good deal of time..." Read more of this review »
Old Testament Ethics for the People of God by Christopher J.H. Wright
"I have one regret. I wish I had read this book sooner. Wright masterfully explains the Old Testament in a way that was refreshing and reinvigorating to me, a person that was brought up with (and ultimately rejected) a dispensationalism that render..." Read more of this review »

Wonderful addition to the trilogy by its author. A thorough review, letter by letter of the Spirit's person, work and purpose in our union with Christ. A great study tool for those wanting to dig more deeply into the Spirit's work in our salvation.

This little gem is a wonderful introduction to this English Puritan pastor's treasuries. You can finish these sermons in 1 sitting, but you won't want too. Read them slowly, and you will be well fed and satisfied.

C.S. Lewis
“I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept his claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.”
C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

Timothy Keller
“If Jesus rose from the dead, then you have to accept all that he said; if he didn't rise from the dead, then why worry about any of what he said? The issue on which everything hangs is not whether or not you like his teaching but whether or not he rose from the dead.”
Timothy Keller, The Reason for God: Belief in an Age of Skepticism

Timothy Keller
“A faith without some doubts is like a human body with no antobodies in it. People who blithely go through life too busy or indifferent to ask the hard questions about why they believe as they do will find themselves defenseless against either the experience of tragedy or the probing questions of a smart skeptic. A person's faith can collapse almost overnight if she failed over the years to listen patiently to her own doubts, which should only be discarded after long reflection.”
Timothy Keller

Francis Bacon
“Read not to contradict and confute; nor to believe and take for granted; nor to find talk and discourse; but to weigh and consider. Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested: that is, some books are to be read only in parts, others to be read, but not curiously, and some few to be read wholly, and with diligence and attention.”
Francis Bacon, The Essays

John Piper
“God without Christ is no God.”
John Piper, Don't Waste Your Life
