loved it - i actually loved the second book more then the first book, is that legal?
downside - must wait until sometime next year for last installment. ]]>
what a great book - brought back days of harry potter obsession and wanting to just keep reading and reading - thank god there is a book two which i have been told is just as good as book one and a third on the way next year. i know there is a movie in the works but reading the original will far surpass anything hollywood will cast. so run quick and pickup up a copy or get your downloads on. ]]>

thank you sans for gushing on about this little gem. and thank you ms carriger for giving us super sassy alexia - oh and of course for releasing the hounds in a character like lord maccon. good quick read - plot could get a bit more refined but i will definitely come back for book II. ]]>

i would bump it up half a star but can not bestow the mighty four. Audrey is a good storyteller, i really loved the buildup of the characters and the setting, but once things settled into more of plot through to the end i got frustrated with easily broadcasted solutions and flimsy revelations. it felt more like it could have been a tighly wound short story and not a 400 page novel. there were a couple twist along the way and the end should make for good "book club" fodder with questions like did everyone get what they wanted or did the right/wrong people prevail, is there anymore chardonnay?

yes i hang my head in shame - i am reading another one of them! ]]>
good story done up in that hornby simple perspective of the common people way. ambiguous ending was my reason for downgrading book. it can be so frustrating to be lost adrift in a book, enjoying the plot, buddying up to the characters, page turning all weekend and then its over and you realized you have been dumped on the side of the road and have to find your own way home. good weekend-airport read - but wanting a bit more bite at the end. ]]>
