The novel of the 20th century. Perhaps not the greatest novel of the 20th century, but the one that captured it best. But then, you almost certainly already knew that.

Every time I re-read it, which is often, I feel the dread, the confusion, the struggle with reality as felt and as dictated. Winston in Room 101 is always extreme anguish. The closing line is always soul-crushing.
