All in all I liked the book. It was a bit frustrating that the setting of the story took so long but the word that it's built and set up was sensual, rich, mysterious and alluring. I wish I could have gotten to know some of the characters better. Thanks to the way most of the story is narrated you are left wanting to know more, to go deeper. There are another two books in the series but I think I'm skipping those. It left me a little disappointed that I didn't get to see some characters and story lines develop but even so, all in all it was a good, enchanting tale.

This book grabbed me from the first lines. I had already watched the movie which means I had an idea of the type of book I was about to read but even knowing the plot, reading the book was very satisfying. I enjoyed the narrative style a lot and the humor had me laughing from page one on. Though the movie gives you interesting visuals and a new brach in the plot that isn't in the book, I don't think it necessarily adds anything to the written product. The story is made to be read and enjoyed, step by step, line by line, absurdity by absurdity. A wonderful read!

I liked this book from the first chapter. After all, there's nothing like a story about books for a booklover. The characters are interesting and real but I didn't develop that strong connection I do with the characters I really like. The story and the way it was presented was well crafted, keeping the tension and the interest in the story. I do feel that it isn't very elaborated plot wise. For a 600 page book not a lot happens but the story still is captivating and the narration works very well. I especially liked the quotes at the beginning of each chapter and how those and the book itself urged me to read or reread some other books. All in all, a very good read.

There's not much I can say about this book without spoiling it. Let's just say it had it's ups and downs and there was even a point I was longing for the end, not that much because I needed to know what happened but because as the characters I had grown tired of the quest and I wanted to reach the end, whatever that might be. This is a long book and many, many things happen. Almost every emotion is represented in this book and the reader goes through all of them. The ending is one of the best endings I've ever read, very fitting for the series and it just worked perfectly. Give this whole series a shot. I promise you, you won't regret it.

This is the second book on the "Dark Tower" series. The quest we began in the first one takes a better shape here. We're still unsure about many things but the path is being walked. We are introduced to new characters, one which I loved from now forward. One of the greatest strengths I've found in Kings' work is his descriptions of every day life, of every day characters,of how he incorporates pop culture and makes the characters tri-dimensional. This book brings us back to that. It reads faster than the first and captivates more easily. There is a section in this book I found slow but overall, I loved it. At the end you are still on the edge of your seat, with new characters to care for and impatient to continue the journey.
