My mom is making me read this book. I am on page 58 after picking it up last night, much against my better judgement, I might add. I figured it would be a waste of time and so far it seems to be very difficult to relate to the characters in the book. The style of writing is very juvenile. I don't believe in the traditional concept of "The Trinity." I notice that much mention has been made of that. My mom wouldn't tell me anything about the book and just told me she wanted me to read it so we could discuss it. Well I'm going to try, just for her. I have read a few reviews and I have no problem with God being portrayed as a black woman. I mean What Dreams May Come is my favorite movie and I love the movie The Matrix. God can take any form he/she/it wants, I suppose.
I feel like this will be like sitting through a pta meeting just so I can watch my kid be the star in the little play at the end. I might feel like it was worth it at the end but but I sure don't think it will ever be a classic....less
