I didn't find this book hilariously funny, but I did find it highly readable, engaging, and...annoying. Not that Goldacre is annoying (except when he's telling me to examine my sperm under a microscope), but much of what he describes is. The MMR panic. Drug companies hiding negative results. Reporter ignorance. Wilful decisions by newspaper editors to give health scare stories not to their expert reporters, but to generalists, who can be relied upon to hype the scare up as much as possible.

The best part though is the graph showing the incidence of measles plummeting in the US after the licensing of the vaccine. Just astounding. Of course, as Goldacre himself would probably say, we ought to make sure that the method of reporting didn't also change around that time. :)
