Much better writing than we got in The Da Vinci Code--more plausible plot, more intriguing puzzle, and three-dimensional characters. For that, Steve Berry deserves credit.

However, The Templar Legacy suffers from the same bad historical premise to create another story that promotes gnosticism as the true Christianity.

Even as a Bible-believing Christian, I'd be far more intrigued by a plot based on the the emperor Theodosius suppressing something or other when he made Christianity the official state religion in A.D. 380. The historical underpinnings of gnosticism are too flimsy a foundation on which to build a believable story.
