I found this latest installment in Tate Hallaway's Garnet Lacey series just as enjoyable as I expected. Garnet and Sebastian are very interesting characters, and it was nice to get to know their families a bit more. The contrast between Garnet's down-to-earth Minnesota farmer parents and Sebastian's (un)dead son and babymama was great! I was pleased by the eventual outcome of the book, and am looking forward to see where things end up - especially with Parrish and Teresa. ]]>

This is the second time I've read this book - now that I've finished watching the first season of True Blood I figured it was time to give it another go. I didn't like it as much as I remembered, and I'm not sure why. It was fun to see more specifically the changes that were made for the TV series though, and interesting to read it with images of the characters in mind.

This collection contains short stories from lots of authors that I enjoy - but I think that I just don't enjoy short stories as much as full length ones. I like to really get to know a character or a world and it's hard to do in ~30 pages. I did enjoy the handful of stories that were about characters/worlds I'm already familiar with though, particularly Tate Hallaway's contribution. ]]>

I picked this book up on the recommendation of a friend who thought I might like it. I read another Catherine Coulter book while I waited for this one from the library and liked it fine so I had high hopes. I was actually rather disappointed in this one. There was just something about the writing that grated on my nerves - I can't quite put my finger on what. The dialogue was stilted, I think, or unrealistic in some other way?
The plotline was interesting though and I think I might like the characters if I gave them another chance, but it's hard to tell for sure. ]]>

I enjoyed this book, but didn't love it as much as the first one - I think because I didn't relate to the characters as well. I loved how Melissa Marr continued to build her world though, and include lots of unique characters and situations. The concept of the ink exchange is brilliant! ]]>
