I thought thought the emotion the characters felt was decent. But everything else was less than mediocre. The plot was the main problem. It seemed like the author initially had one idea: dealing with the death of Zoe's mother's cancer. But then in the middle of writing the book decided that there was no conflict or resolution so back tracked a few pages and added in Simon's problem. I just felt like it could have been much better. Also Simon's life story was a little long for a short book.
