Why isn't this book more popular. Anyone not working or studying in a Bio-related field would not have known the importance of fruit flies in human development. A must read, although it was a bit dumbed down for my taste.

Correct. Lethal injections and water-boarding are quit palatable in comparison. Nowadays, the cheering audiences will settle for choreographed violence and, to the most extreme scenarios, unregulated bare-knuckle fights. I wonder if we'll always be a violent species.

The selfish nature of life on Earth which most people would find discouraging is actually what gives us our altruistic abilities. This book lays the ground for an exploration of where our morals came from, and why we tend to value what we do.
<br/>I would say, however, that I'd like to have been able to read more about selfish gene theory in regard to human behavior.
