Kind of like everything you ever wanted to about Sciecne for Dummies, but very readable. He spends a lot of time on context and the personalities involved, so that it reallt isn't that long of a read. It did seem like the last 1/3 did drag a little.

Part drama, part history and science lesson. Will make you a little paranoid about an avian flu outbreak. What most interested me was the explosive development of medicine at the turn of the century.

Mississippi writer follows the rise of a small town soccer club up the ladder of Italian leagues by living amongst them. One of my all-time faves. Beautifully heartbreaking.
