I enjoyed this secand book of the "Southern Vampire Mysteries" a little more than I did the first. The vampires actually banded together in this one to do something other than boff each other all over the place.

This one maintained the mystery vibe while throwing a little more of the stuff that I like in a vampire story (a big group of vampires against a common foe, and some other creatures like shapeshifters and maenads).

Definitely liked this one better. Here's to hoping this series keeps going up from here.

While I found all the information about the Masons, the Invisible College, noetics, the hidden history of our capitol and nation, and all the other occult things mentioned in this book very informative and fun, I found the characters dry, the plot somewhat commonplace and the soundness as a novel questionable.

Yes, it's true that there is a fellow who isn't a very pleasant chap that's referred to as "Mr. Harvey". So much so that I can't even imagine you and he inhabiting the same universe, though... You are a far superior "Mr. Harvey", my friend.

Sebold's writing is the most deftly executed in this book that I've seen in a long time. I'm wanting to read more of her books just based on the way she pieces words together.

When you get time, man, this one will be a treat...

Okay, so going into this book I expected vampire fiction... And I kind of got that, but I guess I'd describe this as more in the mystery vein with vampires popping up here and there.

Although the vampires therein are pretty cool and have some history and stories to tell (which I love. I love the stories where the undead are eons of years old with so much of a story to impart), they rarely ever do anything in these books besides a bunch of sex acts.

Though we're even beginning to see some cool horror genre-esque stuff with the appearances of even some were-creatures (shape-shifters), there are no instances where it's like this clan of vampires vs. that clan of vampires.

I don't know, my bottom line on this one, I guess, is that Harris has got me hooked enough to keep reading, but with this first novel of the Sookie Stackhouse series, she's no Rice or Meyer in my book.

When I was little my father would pull me into his lap and reach for the snow globe. He would turn it over, letting all the snow collect on the top, then quickly invert it. The two of us watched the snow fall gently around the penguin. The penguin was alone in there, I thought, and I worried for him. When I told my father this, he said, "Don't worry, Susie; he has a nice life. He's trapped in a perfect world.""

I've been looking at this book for a long tme in bookstores, wanting to pick it up and read it. I should have done so a lot sooner.

There is no review that I could write that would do the magical words inside the covers justice. Sebold takes an emotional personal experience and weaves it into magic, tackling love, hate, vengeance, loss, redemption, and happiness in a way that I think only she could.

This book is amazing...

Well, here it is. The final installment of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Saga. I had heard that she'd marred the whole series with this book. I've gotta say: I loved it.

Meyer left the high school problems behind once and for all in this one and focused on developing all these characters into supernatural and fictional immortality. I also feel the need to say that the vampires, through the plot in this book, have ALMOST come to remind me of the beloved vampires of Anne Rice's Chronicles.

Say what you will about this series. Some of the books had some weak spots, but this chapter was the ultimate payoff... It's worth reading the whole series to get to this VERY satisfying ending.
