Beautiful story - I found myself in tears over the frustration the narrator felt about losing her memory. I really enjoyed reading this, although I hoped the whole way through the book for this disease to be cured. Great recommendation Ellie!

weird weird annie proulx. her writing is absolutely beautiful. I'm not sure how she knows what it would be like to be a male gay cowboy, but she has to be right. She's one of my favorites, and these are definitely some twisted stories. Several of the...more

loved this book - besides the fact that the guy has a serious complex about women, it is a really interesting story of a guy who goes to live in the wilderness by himself.

I really enjoyed this book, although I was so sad as I was reading. The writing itself was gorgeous - and Yates does such a nice job of making you feel the character's cramped and uncomfortable lives. I enjoyed this book quite a lot.

loved this book!!! I know I'm just a geeky history lover, but this was a fascinating summary of the dust bowl. The author follows several families throughout the 1930s - I knew the dust bowl was bad, but I had no idea how severe this period was on re...more

This was a Christmas present Drew gave to me two years ago...and I finally got a chance to pick it up. I'm glad! I really have a creepy fascination about George Orwell (I especially love 1984 and Animal Farm), so the premise of this book was great fo...more

Although depressing, I really liked this short novel. It's so apathetic...a guy who kind of randomly hooks up with a nice girl who's in love with him but he doesn't return the love, and then the guy kind of randomly kills a guy and doesn't feel sorry...more
