Just a bit more background:
This choice was made locally, based on the question of what to do with randomly-received paperback book donations. The local library is under-funded, under-staffed, and short of space. The local community around here is usually economically challenged and less wealthy than the American norm. In today's economy, the situation is even more difficult. So the set-up is apparently based upon tight money.
The reason that I'm talking about the local economic condition is because a number of you might find yourselves wanting to suggest it to your own public library. If you do, what needs to be clarified is that this is a way for a library to reduce costs and save on permanent storage, while still providing a valuable local service. In tight times, people appreciate free books. ]]>

Hi, Jessica!
You've been reading much more adventurously and voraciously than me lately; I've been watching your patterns at the Next Best Book Club--"What Are You Reading" thread.
For me, real life is getting much, much too interesting (as in the notorious supposedly Chinese curse: "May you live in interesting times"). So my reading has slowed and become less adventurous.
I guess that, in your part of Arizona, this cooler weather is welcome. Where I live in northern, high-altitude, New Mexico, the much milder and pleasant summer has become a spectacular autumn that forbodes the usually more difficult--and truely cold--genuine winter.
But we have both become real fans of David Mitchell this year; so I look forward to any reading recommendations you may choose to bless me with as I sock-in someplace warm this coming winter.

Thank you for thr reccomendations, Janny. I already have Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay on an informal TBR list.
For now, I'm giving up on Wizard's First Rule--a little too simplistic for me.
So for the SciFi/Fantasy fix, I'm now reading Ilium by Dan Simmons. So far, I'm enjoying it. ]]>
