It is difficult to create a theme issue, however loosely defined, among such diversity of voices, when the theme was not requested during the submission process.
Jordon lost his 20 year old sister in the middle of the editing process of Monkey Puzzle 7, which he acknowledged on both the front introduction and the back memorial. He was able to weave tales of love and loss into this issue throughout. From Junior Burke's "Dinner Plans" at the beginning to Rea Allen's "A Dusting of Memories" at the end, this issue showcases such stories of memory and loss, stories not sentimental but deeply honest and deeply spiritual. The collection selected for this issue shows the talent and vision of editor and the writers alike. I would recommend Surviving Schizophrenia by E. Fuller Torrey, M.D. and the Unquiet Mind by Kay Jamison, M.D. and patient. Every individual who has it experiences mental illness differently. It is a complicated, many times heart breaking problem that becomes even more so by the stigma associated with it that many popular cultural mediums only intensify. Remember, you promised to let me read this next. Thanks for sharing. ]]>
