When a big city doctor follows her lover to small town American, she soon discovers just what being in a small town means. No matter how great of a doctor she is, she must save face and try not to burst any of the egos. Very much out of her element she soon discovers that the entire town is involved in some type of cover up that is causing mysterious diseases throughout the town. As Ally goes on a wild goose chase trying to help the one she loves, there are obstacles at every angle and the town will stop at nothing to keep things running "smoothly". A wonderful read....less

As I continue on my Michael Palmer obsession, I recently completely one of his earlier novels, Side Effects. This book was an excellent read that showed the life of a woman trying to balance work and life. When female patients start dying of very strange and usual blood disorders, Dr. Bennett makes it her mission to try and solve the mystery surrounding these mysterious deaths, before her friend is next. Although, Dr. Bennett focuses her work on saving her friend's life, her home life is rapidly deteriorating. This was a great read full of mystery and suspense with a little romance on the side....less

This was a great page turner! I had a very hard time putting the book down until I had it finished. Each page dragged me further and further into a great story! From a small village in the Marshall Islands to Saudi Arabia, this book never stops. This book is sooo intense that the reader isn't aware that the story is about something terrifying until the last 100 pages! I highly recommend this book!...less
